Among all the Pharmacies we work with on a daily basis, there are SEVERAL that still request Per Diem Pharmacy Technicians. These pharmacies we work with have great reputations at the market level, high retention rates, and pleasant environments to work in. Since it's hard to find individuals to catch onto their software quickly while working during a normal shift, some do provide onsite training by request and some require it. This allows each Pharmacy Technician to provide the best customer service possible. Each Pharmacy Technician going into assist the pharmacy, whether it be a day shift or for an extended period of time, are seen as one of their own employees, this gives each individual a sense of ownership and pride in their work while getting to know each patient.

Job Responsibilities

 

As a Certified Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining productivity and quality standards as well as legal and company compliance as you enter in new prescriptions and assist in the preparation of prescriptions.

 

Job Responsibilities in Retail Chain, Independents, Independent Compounding, Community Outpatient and Long Term Care settings:

  • Assists the Pharmacist in filling prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Receiving new written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate
  • Ability to interpret physicians’ orders into the computerized med. order system.
  • Establishing or maintaining patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients
  • Ability to perform drug calculations and interpret prescriptions.
  • Maintaining proper storage and security conditions for drugs
  • Answering telephones, responding to questions or requests
  • Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual insurance claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner
  • Pre-packing bulk medicines, filling bottles with prescribed medications, and typing and affixing labels
  • Labels products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels.
  • Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out-of-date items from the inventory
  • Cleaning and helping to maintain equipment or work areas according to prescribed methods
  • Assisting customers by answering simple questions, locating items, or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information
  • Receiving and storing incoming supplies, verifying quantities against invoices, checking for outdated medications in current inventory, and informing supervisors of stock needs and shortages
  • Processes returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction.
  • Communicates with all customers in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Performs other tasks as assigned
  • Assists with special projects as needed.
  • Supports location, departmental goals, and the overall objectives of the Company.
  • Complies with all laws, regulations and standards of ethical conduct.

Specific Per Diem Pharmacy Technician requirements:

  • Area: Ability to work in the Denver Metro area
  • Licensure requirements: PTCB certified required for most Pharmacies – active, clear, and in good standing 
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Years of experience: 1+ year(s) of recent pharmacy experience within a retail, long term care, or pharmacy benefit management setting
  • Schedule: Varies, Per Diem needs
  • Length of assignment: Per Diem
  • Pay: Depending On Experience
  • Background/drug requirements: Ability to successfully complete background check and drug screen
