Compounding Pharmacist

 Job Responsibilities

 

  • Using computerized compounding system, weigh and record the chemicals included in the formula and then combine the chemicals into the appropriate dosage form as requested by the prescription.
  • Receive and process customer orders. Including order entry into pharmacy computer system
  • Responsible for the preparation of compounded sterile preparations and related activities under the direction of the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC). Assists in the supervision of compounding pharmacy technicians, interns and other support personnel.
  • Prepares compounded preparations using aseptic technique and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assures pharmacy compliance with rules and regulations of the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy and other regulatory agencies.
  • Reviews orders and prescriptions for mixing and dispensing. Resolves order discrepancies and problems with customer pharmacy personnel.
  • Supervises pharmacy technicians and interns, reviewing their work for accuracy while ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Provides employee performance feedback to Pharmacist in Charge (PIC)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate automation equipment. Including calibration and proper documentation of scales, electronic meters, etc.
  • Ability to work well with other employees and the management team.
  • Knowledge of cleanroom functions, aseptic technique, relevant cGMP’s, USP (795/800), and other applicable USP chapters.
  • Ability to interface with customers and apply good phone etiquette skills when speaking to customers. Including answering questions and provide consultation, when necessary, to customers.
  • Ability to perform quality control functions as assigned.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures and the ability to monitor for compliance.
  • Computer literate in windows environment and computer systems.
  • Ability to operate various types of office equipment.
  • Properly using all equipment in the lab that is necessary to make the compound.
  • Answering questions/provide consultation to patients and prescribers
  • Calibrating and properly documenting usage of scales, electronic meters, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Specific Compounding Pharmacist requirements:

  • Area: Must be able to work in the Los Angeles area
  • Licensure Requirements: Must have valid, open and active California license.
  • Education: Pharm. D.
  • Years of Experience: 2 years of experience in specialty compounding. Experience with Bio - Identical Hormones required. 
  • Schedule: 4-6 days per month
  • Length of Assignment: Temporary to Permanent
  • Pay: $55 - $60/hr.
  • Background/ Drug Requirements: Ability to successfully complete background check and drug screen.
