Certified Pharmacy Technician

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Places monthly calls to patients in order to monitor compliance/ persistence of medications, evaluate adverse reactions, and refer patients to the clinical pharmacist when necessary and as needed.
  • Makes contact with physician offices to verify refills and communicate clinical information throughout each work day
  • Notifies pharmacist of relevant clinical information gathered during calls to provider or patient that may affect a patient’s disease state, medication regimen, or method of funding
  • Enters new and refill prescription orders into computer software program
  • Enters clinical data requirements into computer software program and/or a disease tracking software
  • Understands the process of insurance verification and online prescription adjudication
  • Investigates patient insurance benefits and other supplemental payer information in order to maximize prescription medication funding and minimize out of pocket patient expenses
  • Investigates alternate funding from non-profit foundations or manufacturer sponsored compassionate care programs
  • Constant communication with health care providers, pharmacy benefit managers and patients in order to ensure the timely delivery of medications
  • Coordinates medication ship date between patient or provider and our product distribution team
  • Answers and resolves patient inquiries within committed time frames.
  • Understands the physical, psychological and social challenges of specific disease states and assists the patient with drug therapy and pharmacy care issues.
  • Promotes drug compliance.
  • Reports all adverse events related to drug therapy and pharmacy care.
  • Establishes and maintains strong customer relationships with physician practices to streamline communication to the patient, payers, pharmacist, nurse, lab and other healthcare related parties.
  • Participates in administration of patient's pharmacy care plan.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves patient and payer issues in a timely fashion.
  • Works in a team-structured environment to provide support to other members of the healthcare team.
  • Embraces a continuous quality improvement customer service approach by pro-actively identifying areas of improvement and communicating those ideas to the healthcare team.
  • Maintains current notes and documentation related to patient's drug therapy and pharmacy care plan; flags issues that need to be addressed.
  • Coordinates responses and resolutions with appropriate internal and external parties.
  • Actively participates in discussions with pharmacists, nursing services, pharmacy support manager and other pharmacy care coordinators to review cases and related drug therapy and pharmacy care plan issues.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Specific Certified Pharmacy Technician requirements:

  • Area: Must be able to work in the Austin, TX area.
  • Licensure Requirements: Must have valid, open and active Texas Pharmacy Technician license. PTCB certification required.
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Years of Experience: 0- 2 years of recent PBM or Retail pharmacy experience
  • Schedule: Varies, can be Full – Time, Part – Time or Per Diem
  • Length of Assignment: Temporary, Temp to Perm
  • Pay: Depending on Experience
  • Background/ Drug Requirements: Must be able to complete a background check and a drug screening. Additional health screening is required.
