Pharmacy Job of the Month: Long-Term Care Pharmacist in Fresno, CA
Rx relief® has an exciting opportunity in the Fresno area – an opening for a long-term care pharmacist.
In this position, you’ll assess medication orders from physicians to determine if the drug dosages are appropriate, if harmful interactions might occur, and if method of administration is effective. You’ll check for stability, and make any recommendation for changes, if necessary. You’ll conduct drug utilization reviews and go over clinical edits to ensure there are no adverse drug interactions.
The pharmacist is also responsible for maintaining a patient database containing patients’ medical history, other clinical and laboratory data, and medication regimens. The pharmacist works with pharmacy technicians to reconcile controlled substance logs with inventory and dispensed prescriptions to comply with state and federal regulations.
The duties of the job also include working with the chief pharmacist to carry out cost-containment strategies on all dispensing and procurement of medication. The pharmacist hired for the job will also provide clinical expertise for drug-related questions from technicians, nursing staff, directors of nursing, administrators and customers.
The job also requires collaboration with the healthcare team to provide clinical and technical support, documenting all communication with physicians, nurses and other members of the healthcare team, as well as patients and their families. Other duties include implementing policies and procedures for the safe procurement, storage, distribution and use of drugs and biologicals, as well as disposal of the drugs. And, the pharmacist assists staff with the procedures relating to safe and effective methods for procuring, maintaining, administering, and disposing of drugs.
To qualify for this job, you must have an RPh or Pharm D. degree, at least two years of experience working in a pharmacy management position in a long-term care setting, and a valid, open and active California pharmacist license. This is a temp-to-hire position.
