Top Job: IT Pharmacist Needed in Los Angeles

If you are a pharmacist with experience in information technology, you may be interested in this current job opening for an IT pharmacist in Los Angeles.

In this position, you will be responsible for the development and use of technology and automation to provide quality pharmaceutical care services. You will assist the pharmacy department director, department managers, and staff by providing clinical and business related data derived from automation technology to help make the best operational decisions.

You also will be responsible for maintaining the information system infrastructure that facilitates the interface between the pharmacy department and the hospital. You will also analyze IT needs for the pharmacy department and develop the hardware and software solutions for all of the pharmaceutical services. Another duty will be to supervise and evaluate the pharmacy system administrators.

In this position, you will also assist the director of pharmacy with the hiring and evaluation of other pharmacy personnel who work in the clinical, drug information or patient-focused programs. In addition, you will orchestrate and maintain the records of all training related to pharmacy automation and technology.

The person in this position will also serve as a liaison to all technology vendors, and to the information systems department, billing and accounting, clinical informatics, nursing, and other departments. Additional duties include maintaining all databases, formularies, billing, and reporting for the pharmacy department.

Candidates for this position should have the following credentials:

• Licensed pharmacist in the State of California, or eligible for licensure.
•  Hold a doctor of pharmacy degree (PharmD) or advanced training in pharmacy, such as residency, fellowship, or board certification.
• At least two years’ experience is preferred.
