Top Job of the Month – Home Infusion Pharmacist in Fresno, California

Rx relief has an opportunity available in Fresno, California, for a home infusion pharmacist. This is a temporary-to-hire position.

This pharmacist will be responsible for aseptically preparing all sterile admixture requests for patients after receiving orders from a physician at a clinical or infusion center. They will also assist the pharmacy manager in receiving prescription orders for oncology and infusion therapy, both for internal and external referrals. Other job duties include maintaining patient profile records and prescription files, supervising pharmacy technicians and receiving updates on patient problems or problems in the operation of the service.

The infusion pharmacist will also order and maintain appropriate levels of IV drugs and supplies in compliance with contracts, and assist with the proper accounting and transfer of IV pharmaceuticals to infusion therapy and oncology centers. The pharmacist will also work with oncology and infusion center personnel to identify special needs, as well as drugs and IV medical supplies. They will also check and verify all medications before they are sent to be administered.

The person hired for this position will also maintain appropriate logs and cleaning records of biomedical equipment, such as pumps, and arrange for preventive maintenance and inspection. They will also carry out various quality assurance procedures, including flow hood cleaning, repairs and inspection, and biological laboratory testing. Other duties include assembling supplies and arranging for proper delivery or pickup of home infusion medications and supplies, and maintaining the cleanliness of the admixture machinery and keeping the IV room properly stocked with supplies. 

Requirements for the job include a valid, open and active California pharmacist license, a BS or PharmD, at least two years of experience in home infusion therapy, or experience in an oncology department or inpatient pharmacy.
