You can learn more about the position at the link above; let’s talk about Charlotte now!
Known as the Queen City, Charlotte got its start in 1768 when the town was named for England’s Queen Charlotte, wife of the then-British monarch, King George III.
Charlotte now is the largest city in North Carolina and is home to more than 751,000 residents (2011, U.S Census Bureau). Charlotte is a major financial center, second in the nation and smaller only to New York City.
Charlotte enjoys a moderate climate, with more sunny days than cloudy, and relatively little humidity (compared to other Southern cities) in the summer. Snowfall averages just six inches a year and summer temperatures of 90-plus degrees are relatively rare (just 36 days a year). In addition, although the city itself doesn’t receive much snowfall, Charlotte is located just two hours away from several snow/skiing resorts in the North Carolina mountains.
Housing is very affordable. Tulia.com reported recently that the median sales price for homes in Charlotte from August to October 2012 was $167,000.
As for things to do, in addition to the aforementioned skiing just two hours away, Charlotte offers residents the chance to go whitewater rafting (U.S. National Whitewater Center), walking and hiking through oak-shaded parks and along trails, golfing, and taking advantage of the city’s 210 parks and facilities on 17,600 acres of parkland.
You’ll also be able to visit the Billy Graham Library, the NASCAR Hall of Fame, the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, the Carowinds amusement park, and more.
As for nightlife, you can take in the happenings at the NC Music Factory, go bowling at the EpiCentre (where you can also sing to your favorite cover songs and sample terrific global cuisine and cocktails). Visit a bar with a big screen television in the eclectic NoDa neighborhood and root for your new favorite sports team, the Charlotte Bobcats of the National Basketball Association.
