The Genesis of Rx relief in 1978
Rx relief® began back in 1978 in the second bedroom of a pharmacist’s home in Fallbrook, California as a small staffing company specializing in placing pharmacists in retail practice settings. As it became evident there was a regular need for pharmacists for vacations, illnesses, and staffing shortages, Dr. Roy Long expanded his company into the Los Angeles Area and eventually throughout the State of California. Dr. Long saw this need for pharmacists in other practice settings grow and began recruiting for hospital, long-term care, and home infusion. In the late 1980s, Dr. Long investigated the need for his new service in other states and soon opened for business in Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. Rx relief continues to expand and has done business in Alaska, Idaho, and Colorado and has even placed a pharmacist in the U.S. Territory of Guam.
Transitioning Leadership in 1997
After building a great company with a great reputation that lasted over twenty years, Dr. Long decided it was time to reap the fruits of his hard work and retire. Rx relief was offered to Carl Franklin, who had been with the company since 1990 and was the Regional Manager for the Fresno Area since 1992. With limited resources, Mr. Franklin was referred to George Rogers, President and CEO of PrideStaff®; a national staffing firm looking to expand through acquisitions. Mr. Rogers liked what he saw and elected to purchase Rx relief with the stipulation that Mr. Franklin would accompany the sale and become Vice-President and General Manager. On November 1, 1997, Rx relief became PrideStaff’s eighteenth office.
